Mouthful of a title, isn’t it?
Sounds pretty horrible too?
Glad it caught your “Attention “ Why do I call Affiliate Marketing a Multi-Empire? Well, let us define the word “Empire.” What is an empire? –a major political unit having a territory of great extent or a number of territories or peoples under a single sovereign authority Merriam-Webster Dictionary, (Mar. 12, 2022)–https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/empire
Affiliate marketing can be used as a tool for politics and many other venues but for the sake of this article. We will stick to the business side of things. Affiliate marketing truthfully covers a great swath of territories (products, goods, services, etc.) and people under multiple mini-kings and queens of marketing.
Have you ever seen a king or a queen before? If not in person, maybe you have read about them. Notice how these royals are depicted by what they wear, how they speak, and the food they eat? You probably have wondered how did they acquire such wealth OR were appalled at their gluttony.
It is the same for affiliate marketing.
“Get the product in front of the guest! Make sure it is presentable!”
If you have worked in fast food or a fine dining restaurant with an overbearing manager. You may understand what I speak of. Not all managers or owners are authoritarian nut wings. But quality is everything when it comes to their consumer’s expectations.
As the saying goes, “When you get your own business, you will understand the value of it.“ Do any of you readers think that little statement above is a good enough excuse for a certain “%” of owners and managers to act like authoritarian nut wings? Let me know in the comments, but till then, let’s continue.
Appearance is everything, and Possession is 9/10ths of the law(U.S.).
Appearance is everything (or is it?), and “Possession is 9/10ths of the law.” If you live in the U.S., You may have heard these little-known sayings. Probably not spoken together, although they should be. But you have most likely heard one more than the other. This is what one of my good friends dubbed as, “The shiny effect.” Ahem (cough) –>Partha.
Why? Well, consumers look at products offered to them to solve, assist, or fix a particular issue they have with whatever. Most are convinced by appearance 1st and everything else 2nd or, even worst, last. Word of mouth should really take both first and second place here.
So, what does all of this have to do with Affiliate Marketing? Affiliate marketing runs heavy on consumer perception. “If it looks and sounds good, it must be good!” The Shiny Effect. (Sarcasm was found here)
Red-alert, sarcasm detected here–>And you wonder why people are getting scammed so much. Do you read the fine print?–> (Absolutely No Refunds!!! Once the product is purchased!)
Or perhaps the buyer’s guide?–>(This product may contain cyanide)
Maybe the product reviews?–> (“This man sold me a lemon! The transmission went out as soon as I left the car lot and he won’t fix it! All Mr. Jimmy told me was, “Well, it’s your headache now. You bought it!” Buyer Beware!“)
Possession is 9/10ths of the law, and reading is fundamental. Some friendly advice, always check the goods yourself, and if you do not know what to look for, get someone who does. Please do not get scammed by these shysters trying to pass you off the lemon they purchased.
Note: This popular legal phrase is an expression meaning that “ownership is easier to maintain if a person has possession of something and difficult to enforce if a person does not.” Source Cited:–Wolf Law LLC, (Aug. 28, 2020), Possession Is Nine-Tenths of the Law—What Does This Mean? Possession is 9/10th of the law
Now you know why the phrase is used.
Am I sounding a bit harsh on affiliate marketing? Yes, I am. Regarding us consumers, we have rights that vary by country and state. But we cannot be ignorant of them nor allow dubious individuals to take advantage of our ignorance.
Is affiliate marketing bad?
No, affiliate marketing is a tool used by merchants to reach potential consumers. Can it be used in a negative way? Just like anything else can. Yes. But should we treat it like it is the source of all evil? NO
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a process where publishers earn a commission by promoting a product or service made by another retailer or advertiser. The affiliate partner is rewarded a payout for providing a specific result to the retailer or advertiser. Source Cited: Shopify, (Jan. 20, 2022) What Is Affiliate Marketing? A 2022 Guide to Getting Started
So, now that we have answered the question of what affiliate marketing is. Let us answer another question more directly. Can you make money with Affiliate Marketing? Well, in case you missed the above answer from Shopify, yes, you can.
Now the real question(s) would be, is it “EASY” to make money using the affiliate marketing business model? And do you understand the model? Well, again, the answer is…It depends on the “person” and business promoting whatever product, goods, or service.
And Shopify strikes again! In an article posted on Shopify website, it asks if affiliate marketing is still worth it in 2022? The short answer is, Yes, affiliate marketing is still worth it, given its growth in popularity. Statista estimates the affiliate marketing industry will be worth $8.2 billion by 2022, up from $5.4 billion in 2017. It’s also a low- to no-cost business venture you can profit from immensely. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the expected job growth for this particular field of interest is slated at 10%. And the pay ain’t bad either. A whopping $133,380 yearly! Whoever said you cannot make money working in marketing? They lied!!!! Just getting the bachelor’s degree alone will put you in a very nice tax bracket. And that’s just the education side. Factor in experience and skill set then you shall see me asking for your hand in vows! (jk)
A lot goes into the affiliate marketing business model, and money is no short answer. In fact, money is a forerunning answer. Depending on what all you want to do.
So, many responses would be, “Oh? it is easy,” and most would be, “It is too hard; your method did not work! And this is all a scam! OR I do not have the education or skill set to do this.”
Before we can even address these concerns, we must understand first that everyone has a learning curve. Some will grasp and understand the method immediately others will not. Most will give up outright.
You have to, have to, have to understand your learning curve first before you can even put muster to the grind (sort of speak) and attempt something that can very well be out of your spectrum. This is why I love the Wealthy Affiliate platform. Because it caters to the worst of us first.
Those who come in with no prior knowledge, who do not know what their strengths or weakness are, let alone what they want their goals to be about while here at Wealthy Affiliate other than the obvious. Which is making money.
But who doesn’t want to make money? My point is this before you jump, make sure you have a parachute first. Or in other words, if you know nothing about affiliate marketing, pick up a book and READ. Google is free, by the way.<–(Sarcasm found here)

Great post!
Thank you for your comment! I am researching deeper into this field. It is very vast and this article will be turned into a two-part series.
